Grandma made the best pepper prawn when I was a kid. I’ve been recreating this dish with love and memories of my late grandmother. She didn’t use butter, but I like mine with just a bit of butter.
Black Pepper Prawn
Ingredients
- 2 pounds shrimp with head on deveined
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon black pepper coarsely ground
- 1 teaspoon sugar adjust to taste
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon black soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 2-3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add minced garlic, stir-fry for 30 seconds.
- Add shrimp, cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink.
- Add sugar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and black pepper
- Garnish with green onions and serve the black pepper shrimp stir fry over rice.
